In coordination with Maharat, Naharashabab association has conducted all five of the media trainings scheduled pursuant to its subgrant, which aims to raise the awareness of journalists and media practitioners on the right of access to information and whistleblower protection. The trainings took place in Beirut, Tripoli, Zahle, Salihiye and Marjeeyoun. This same training has been given to young press students from the Antonine University, at Nahar headquarters, to highlight the importance of the right of access to information and whistleblower protection and their role in empowering the battle against corruption by engaging every citizen in fighting it by acting through this right to information. All of the trainings were covered by Naharashabab weekly supplement and by a talk show on ANB called “al yaoum el sabeh”. Reporters from the regions have sent a written essay about the problems they have faced during their work in accessing information. The supplement has been distributed to journalists and Mp’s in the parliament justice commission in order for it to take into consideration the remarks given by reporters and journalists regarding the law to access to information.
