The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) is implementing the “One Community: Promoting Inter-Faith Cooperation” program in Lebanon. One Community works with faith-based community organizations and their leaders to undertake community development projects that promote religious tolerance.
To expose a wider audience to the benefits of this program, IREX is partnering with Nahar Ashabab to disseminate the messages of the program through youth journalists. The program will mobilize youth’s energy and enthusiasm to create a network of “youth journalists” from Nahar Ashabab’s youth who will capture the processes and the results of the joint community projects in the form of digital documentaries and other new media products.
The training on February 12 2011 was to strengthen Nahar Ashabab youth journalists’ use of technology tools and new media to express views on social networking platforms, document the religious leaders’ community development projects and disseminate its results through digital documentaries, blogs, on-line discussions, and social media advocacy campaigns.
